Keep a single folder (digital is fine)
- Purchase paperwork, buyer's order, finance contract, window sticker.
- Every repair order, including "no problem found" visits.
- Dates out of service, drop-off and pick-up for each visit.
- Photos / video, odometer, dash lights, leaks, the failure itself.
- Communications, texts, emails, and notes from calls with the dealer or GM.
- Receipts, tows, rentals, parts, out-of-pocket repairs.
- Recall notices, anything GM mailed you.
Why it matters
Claims are won on documentation. A clear timeline of repair attempts and out-of-service days is exactly what attorneys and manufacturers look at first.
